Ontario Launches Three New Permanent Residence Pathways Under Revamped OINP
Ontario has officially launched the first three permanent residence pathways under its redesigned Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The new streams are part of a broader overhaul aimed at simplifying the immigration system while better addressing the province’s labour market needs.

The Three New OINP Pathways

This pathway is designed for workers in high-skilled occupations (TEER 0, 1, 2, and 3) who have received a qualifying job offer from an Ontario employer.
Eligible occupations generally include:

2. TEER 4–5 Pathway
Ontario has introduced a dedicated pathway for workers in TEER 4 and TEER 5 occupations, providing additional opportunities for individuals working in occupations that are essential to Ontario’s economy.

- Truck Drivers
- Personal Support Workers (where applicable)
- Food Processing Workers
- Agricultural Workers
- Hospitality Workers
- Manufacturing Labourers

3. Self-Employed Physicians Pathway
One of the most significant additions is a pathway specifically for self-employed physicians.
Previously, many physicians working under Ontario’s healthcare billing model were unable to qualify because they were considered self-employed rather than traditional employees.
The new pathway allows eligible physicians who bill through the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) to apply for provincial nomination if they meet the program requirements. This change is expected to strengthen healthcare recruitment and retention across the province.
